2 Settembre – Plenary Session: Curating Sustainable Futures Through Museums
Considerando i vari aspetti a livello locale e globale della sostenibilità, questa sessione esplora diversi percorsi e strategie innovative che i musei stanno attuando, e potrebbero in futuro, per supportare la società ad affrontare sfide senza precedenti. Molto è stato raggiunto, e molto ancora si può conquistare, con i musei posti come crocevia fra tradizione, innovazione e comunità per nutrire futuri sostenibili. Tutti i musei hanno un ruolo da svolgere, e attraverso il lavoro comune possiamo massimizzare il nostro impatto e i nostri benefici collettivi. Questa sessione incoraggia i partecipanti a considerare come possono essere coinvolti nel creare questa storia condivisa di una positiva trasformazione.
Considering the various local and global aspects of sustainability, this session will explore different paths and innovative strategies that museums are following and can follow to support society to meet unprecedented challenges. So much has been achieved, and so much more can be achieved, as museums are at the nexus between tradition, innovation and communities to nurture sustainable futures. All museums have a part to play, and through working together we can maximise our collective impact and benefit. This panel will encourage all participants to consider how they can get involved in creating this shared story of positive transformation.
3 Settembre – Plenary Session: The Museum Definition – The backbone of ICOM
Nel corso delle scorse decadi i musei hanno adattato, trasformato e re-inventato i loro obiettivi, politiche e pratiche, al punto che la definizione di museo di ICOM non sembra più riflettere le nostre sfide e le nostre molteplici visioni e responsabilità. In questa sessione plenaria ICOM riunisce esperti della rete e voci esterne per discutere del bisogno globale di un cambiamento nella definizione di museo e delle visioni e potenziali per una nuova definizione.
Over recent decades museums have adjusted, transformed, and re-invented their purpose, policies and practices, to the point where the ICOM museum definition no longer seems to reflect our challenges and manifold visions and responsibilities. In this plenum ICOM will bring together network experts and external voices to discuss about the overall need for a change in the museum definition and of the visions and potentials for a new definition.
4 Settembre – Plenary Session: Museums in Times of Disaster
Nell’eventualità di un grande disastro i musei dovrebbero reagire in maniera effettiva, consapevole e rapida. Per essere capace di salvare vite umane e patrimoni culturali, dovrebbero analizzare e preparare meccanismi di risposta. Questa sessione plenaria fornisce un forum per condividere esperienze, discutere sulle sfide e minacce che i musei stanno fronteggiando, e esplorare le opportunità di una cooperazione internazionale e di uno scambio di conoscenze.
In the event of a major disaster museums should react in an effective, conscious and rapid way. To be able to save lives and cultural heritage, they should analyse and prepare response mechanisms. This plenary session provides a forum to share experiences, to discuss the challenges and threats that museums are facing, and to explore the opportunities of international cooperation and knowledge exchange.
4 Settembre – Plenary session: Asian art museums and Collections around the World
La sessione plenaria sui Musei e le Collezioni di Arte Asiatica nel mondo offre una possibilità di considerare come le relazioni internazionali e altri tentativi possono aiutare a favorire una migliore presentazione e compresione dell’arte dell’Est Asiatico nei musei di tutto il mondo.
The plenary session Asian Art Museums and Collections in the World will offer a chance to consider how international networking and other endeavours can help foster better presentation and understanding of East Asian art in museums around the world.
